Foxes!

Led by husband and wife Adam and Kayla Bell and originating in Oxford, Foxes! is a four piece indie pop explosion, currently located in Brighton, England.

“Their episodic jangly pop may represent the first attempt in musical history to wrangle winsome C86 indie with prog rock” The Guardian

“Pleasing levels of naivety from indie poppers who clearly live in toy town” Drowned In Sound

“Balances arch, wry lyrics with a catchy melody, all squeaks and squawks over twee-indie disco beats” God Is In The TV

Debut album Foxes!, released 16th January 2012, is a charming mixture of C86, post punk, folk, casiotone and twee. Foxes! sound is very much their own, although fans of Young Marble Giants, Stereolab, Belle and Sebastian and Lavender Diamond should be won over.

Previously Foxes! released ‘The Panda Bear Song EP’ on Elefant Records (the Spanish home of BMX Bandits, Television Personalities and Camera Obscura), in April 2011.

Initially hailing from Oxford, the band migrated to Brighton and over recent months with like-minded minded local musicians, they plotted to create an independent record label dedicated to releasing “new albums from strange and interesting corners of the city’s creative underside.”

Milk & Biscuits

Milk & Biscuits is the collaborative recording project of Matthew Davies and Max Erle of the band Restlesslist.

Balcony Times is a collection of songs written over the summer and autumn months of 2010. During this time they invited friends to come and record in the loft room above Matt’s house. It is a collage of soundscapes, old forgotten songs, improvisations, day-dreams and memories.

This first release will be a limited edition run of 100 compact discs in beautiful hand made sleeves.

Press for Balcony Times:

“It floats into your life, lulls you into a state of serenity and then floats back out again. It’s cheaper than a day in a spa, and twice as effective at relieving stress.” – The 405 (6.5 / 10)

“‘Rivers’ is cut from the same cloth as the wonderful recent EP by High Highs; the harmonies couldn’t be more heavenly whilst the shimmering dreampop is both ghostly and summery.” – Leonard’s Lair

“It’s a simply wonderful LP, the way it seems to meander through the speakers and into the open air with its silky smooth and fluid notions is truly exciting.” – Little Comments (9 / 10)

“Listening to this album is rather like drifting in and out of sleep on a hammock beside the sea. And I mean this with the greatest of respects.” – London Confidential

“It could be the name of a particularly lofty newspaper, but it’s not. ‘Balcony Times’ is a room full of pillows; it’s a blanket over long grass in the Sunday sun. It’s smiling when you’re sleeping.” – Live Music Scene
